Former person of interest in Uptown restaurant robberies now wanted for robbing a bank
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A man wanted in a recent bank robbery and armed carjacking in New Orleans was a former person of interest in the Uptown restaurant armed robberies last year.
Dwayne Winans, aka “Butter,” is accused of walking into the Fidelity Bank at 5530 Crowder Blvd. Aug. 4, giving a demand note to the teller and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash. The robbery happened about 12:45 p.m.
The NOPD says on Friday, August 12, Winans carjacked a couple just before midnight in the 2nd District. He is accused of taking a 2012 Toyota Silver Camry.
Winans is known to the NOPD. He was a person of interest in the Uptown restaurant armed robberies at Patois, Atchafalaya and Monkey Hill bar, but Winans was never charged.
