Three things you didn’t know about Dick and Jenny’s

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - It's COOLinary month, which means lunch under $20 and dinner under $39 at over 70 great restaurants around town. Did you know these facts about Dick and Jenny's?

1. Plates aren't just for eating on at this restaurant.

Dick and Jenny's is decorated with plates that are painted or drawn on by guests. The tradition started when the restaurant was low on money, but wanted to serve customers delicious food. They started selling plates to decorate and hang to make some extra cash. This tradition still alive on today.

2. The restaurant is located in a 120-year-old creole cottage house.

Once upon a time this building was a cottage for a family, then it became a grocery store, and next, "Dee's Uptown Restaurant." It's been Dick and Jenny's since the 1990s.
