Here’s how to retrieve your car if it was stranded on I-12

traffic, hammond, louisiana, flooding,.

BATON ROUGE — Louisiana State Police have set up a hotline to help drivers who had to abandon their vehicles as a result of flooding on I-12 .

In the interest of public safety and the expeditious opening of I-12, the decision was made to remove vehicles from the travel lanes of the interstate, according to LSP.

Vehicles that were blocking lanes of travel were towed by various tow truck companies and safely stored. There will be no cost to the public for this tow.

LSP has set up a hotline for people to contact to obtain information on how to begin the process of retrieving their vehicles. Vehicle owners are asked to call the State Police I-12 vehicle hotline at 225-922-0444 or 225-922-0447.

Please be prepared with as much information about your vehicle as possible (license plate number, vehicle description, etc.) prior to calling the hotline.

If you were charged for an I-12 tow, please retain as much documentation as possible, and be assured that the LSP Towing & Recovery section will work to resolve any issues.
