Thousands stranded on I-12 for more than 24 hours

HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) - Thousands of drivers were stranded along Interstate 12 for more than 24 hours over the weekend

The above video shows trucks and cars stopped on the interstate between Baton Rouge and I-55. The video was taken Saturday afternoon. Many people had been stuck on interstate since Friday.

Helicopters did drop off supplies to the stranded motorists and those rescued were taken to the Hammond Parks and Recreation Center for shelter.

Parts on I-10 and I-12 remain closed Monday morning along with 280 state roads across Louisiana. Drivers should dial 511 to get up-to-the-minute road closure information.

Below is an updated list of interstate flood closures in southeast Louisiana:

• I-12 East and West is closed between US 61 (Airline Highway) and I-55 (Hammond)
• I-10 East and West is closed between US 165 and I-49
• I-10 East and West is closed between Siegen Lane and LA 73
