Suspect sought for shooting at NOPD officer during traffic stop

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – NOPD is looking for the person who fired a gunshot at an NOPD officer during a traffic stop.

According to NOPD, the officer was conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of Florida and Elysian Fields just after 6 p.m., when the driver of a two-door, silver or gray Acura fired a single shot at the officer and drove away.

The officer was not injured, and he did not shoot back.

NOPD hasn’t released any additional information.
