Horses escaping floodwater, now trapped on Texas porch

SIMONTON, Texas -- Flood waters near Simonton, Texas has forced about a dozen horses onto the front porch of a home. And water is still rising.

KTRK reports the Brazos River overflowed due to heavy rains last week forcing the horses, cows and dogs to seek higher ground.

The Brazos River is expected to crest at 7.5 feet above flood stage Tuesday then slowly recede in the next 24 hours.
