NOPD arrests suspect in stabbing on Chef Menteur Hwy.

NEW ORLEANS(WGNO)-NOPD arrested Philip Saunders  and charged him in relation to a stabbing incident in the 7900 block of Chef Menteur Highway. The incident occurred on March 24, 2016. The victim told police that he observed Saunders breaking into an unlocked vehicle parked near the location. When approached by the victim, Saunders produced a folding knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim once in his chest. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The following day, the victim observed Saunders loitering in the 8200 block of Chef Menteur Highway and called the NOPD. Seventh District officers responded and arrested Saunders at the scene and was booked with aggravated battery by cutting and criminal mischief.
