VA cancels town hall meeting for veterans

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System says the Veterans town hall meeting scheduled for tonight at 6  inside the Lakeview Christian Center at 5885 Fleur De Lis Dr. in  New Orleans has been canceled due to potentially dangerous weather.

Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System director, Fernando Rivera says, “The safety of our Veterans and employees is most important and with a forecast for damaging wind gusts in excess of 80 mph and possible tornadoes, we don’t want to risk it. The main timing for severe storms appears to be during the afternoon and evening hours, from 2 -8 p.m.”

The VA conducts town hall meetings monthly throughout southeast Louisiana and the next scheduled meeting is in Houma on March 22.
