NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – You may have seen it or even shared it. There’s a post going around social media from @livesosa with a math explanation on how winning the Powerball jackpot, which is now at $1.4 billion, could end poverty in the United States.

However, before you share, be aware – the math doesn’t work out.

1,300,000,000 / 300,000,000 actually equals $4.33.  Not quite enough for a $5 footlong sub at Subway.

Livesosa is being made aware of their math error, of course, in the comments of their original post.
