More cast added to Roots

The production of the remake of the classic mini-series roots is underway in Hollywood South. The re-make already has an A-list actor in the project already including Laurence Fishburne and up and coming actor Malachi Kirby who's playing the role of Kunta Kinte.

Now Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker will be joining the cast along with Nancy Holt (True Blood). (tvline.com)

Whitaker will be playing the role of a slave while Paquin has been cast as Nancy Holt who's the wife of a confederate officer.

Other new cast members include: Derek Luke (Empire), Anika Noni Rose (The Good Wife), Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors), Chad L. Coleman (The Walking Dead), and Erica Tazel (Justified).
