NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans police say they have arrested a man in connection with the shooting of a police officer who was visiting the city from Ireland.

According to the department’s Facebook page, Melvin Galle, Jr. was arrested by NOPD officers and U.S. Marshals.  Officers also placed Galle’s brother, Keith, under arrest, but the department did not list a charge or reason for the arrest.

Police believe Galle and another man are responsible for shooting and robbing a man named Brian Hanrahan on New Orleans Street last week.  Police say the second attacker’s identity remains unknown and he is still on the loose.

Hanrahan survived the attack and told police that he went with a man to the Seventh Ward to have a drink.
