(WGNO) – Bill Gates has written a blog about his recent meeting with former Saint Steve Gleason.

Earlier this year, Gates took the ALS ice bucket challenge. He then met with Gleason, who has ALS, to brainstorm new ways to improve technology that helps patients live fuller lives.

Gleason is working with Microsoft to develop ways to control a wheelchair using the Microsoft Surface.

Team members at Microsoft are also trying to improve the predictive text software which helps Gleason communicate.

Gates wrote that he was really glad to meet Gleason, and was inspired by the former Saint.

Steve Gleason has always been a man of courage and conviction. Every day he serves as a role model for all of us who are NOT held back because of ALS or any other disabling disease or condition.

Live your life to the fullest and leave your mark on humanity that is both positive and productive!
