Voodoo Athletes of the Week: Warren Easton Eagles top national poll

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - This week our Voodoo Athlete of the Week is plural because they are recognized nationally.

They are one of the favorites this season in class 4A, and now the nation has noticed.

Warren Easton’s Eagles were picked 14th in a USA Today preseason high school football poll.

Linebacker Kendall Franklin said the ranking is great, but “we aren’t state champions yet.”

Wide receiver Tyron Johnson is among a stellar senior class that came to the school with a goal in mind – to win.

“We all know how the city of New Orleans is,” head coach Tony Hull said. “There were a bunch of schools; I’m not going to say any names. They said, ‘why are you going there?’ those guys, they want to be trailblazers. They didn’t want to follow a legacy. They want to build and start their own.”

The Warren Easton Eagles are this week’s New Orleans Voodoo Athletes of the week.
