Hurricane Katrina Remembrances: 9 Years Later

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)  - Today marks the 9th anniversary of hurricane Katrina.  All over the City of New Orleans there are different events marking the solemn day.

At 8:30 this morning, city officials will hold a wreath laying ceremony at 5056 Canal Street, where almost 100 unclaimed or unidentified victims of the storm are interred.

The "Hip Hop Caucus" is holding a 3 mile march and second line.  They're gathering at the Lower 9th Ward levee breach at Jourdan and North Galvez at 10 this morning.

The Bishop Perry Center has a special remembrance during their mass today, which begins at noon.  Refreshments will be served and people of all faiths are welcome to participate.
