NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Ever wonder what it would be like to own jewels once owned by New Orleans socialite and philanthropist, Mickey Easterling?
This weekend, Easterling’s glamorous “bling” went up for auction at New Orleans Auction Galleries.
In life and death, Mickey Easterling is well-known for her extravagant and over-the-top lifestyle. Diamonds were certainly friendly to Mickey. Her prized jewelry including her 10-karat diamond ring went up for auction.
Rings, broaches, watches, necklaces were all up for grabs.
“We have items that are going for $500 to $800 and other items are going from 75-thousand dollars to 125-thousand dollars.”
Tessa Steinkamp at New Orleans Auction Galleries said there is a huge interest in Easterling’s possessions.
“We have bidders not only from New Orleans, but from all over the world. I knew Mickey for 25 years, and she was a fabulous and fascinating person,” Steinkamp said.
You may remember when Easterling passed away in April she made national headlines for her memorial service at the Saenger Theater, where she was seated in a garden setting, with a cigarette in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other.
Guess how much her beautiful 10 carat ring went for?
“80-thousand dollars,” Steinkamp said.
Living large in life and in death.
Easterling’s hat collection will go up for auction at New Orleans Auction Galleries on August 24th.
