There’s apparently more trouble for embattled St. Bernard Parish President David Peralta.

Authorities with the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office executed search warrants at Peralta’s home and office.

WGNO News Reporter Darian Trotter has more.

All was quiet at David Perlata’s Meraux home Friday evening. That’s a stark contrast from Friday morning, when investigators from the Attorney General’s Office executed a search warrant at the home.

They seized several undisclosed items sealed in envelopes.

It’s the latest round of trouble for the first-term Parish leader.

Peralta faces a charge of Sexual Battery stemming from an incident last year with his now estranged wife Sharon.

He was indicted in April, and has repeatedly denied any wrong-doing.

During Friday morning’s search, Peralta was inside as authorities searched both his home and vehicle.

A different team of investigators conducted a separate search at the St. Bernard Parish Government Building.

There they seized several computers.

When asked why authorities were there, and what they were looking for Peralta responded, “I have no idea.”

Peralta made no further comment about Friday’s developments.

His attorney has maintained that the allegations against him are baseless.
