NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Got the need for speed? No problem. Just head to NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale before 5:00 this Friday, pick the car of your dreams, and hit the track.
The Xtreme Xperience event allows people to drive Ferraris, Lamborghinis and other exotic sports cars for a small fraction of their six-figure price tags.
“That’s why we partnered up with NOLA and said let’s do it the right way, let’s let you get behind the wheel, and let’s go test these things,” said Xtreme Xperience president Adam Olande.
The price is generally in the $200 to $300 range. For your money, you get three laps in the car with a professional driver in the passenger’s seat to coach you along the way.
One of the customers on Wednesday was CPA Cliff Dyer. He opted to go for the white Mclaren. It was a beast!
“You’re doing the turns. You’re fishtailing. You push yourself because you know you want to experience the full car. At the same time, you’re scared. You can kinda’ tell I’m kinda’ shaky,” Dyer said.
Xtreme Xperience workers take the cars to tracks around the country for drivers to enjoy. They say the track at NOLA Motorsports Park has the longest straightaway of any of them and it’s possible to reach 140 mph.
