ST. CHARLES PARISH (WGNO) – The Krewe of Zeus has withdrawn its application to parade in St. Charles Parish. It would have been the first carnival parade for the parish’s east bank and the first to roll at night.

The application said that the krewe would hold a nighttime parade in the Ormond subdivision on Feb. 7, 2015 — 10 days before Mardi Gras.

But, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

Sheriff Greg Champagne was contacted by representatives of the Krewe of Zeus this afternoon who informed him that they were withdrawing the application for a Mardi Gras parade permit in The Ormond Subdivision.

Sheriff Champagne would like to thank all of the residents who provided valuable input to his office on this issue.

St. Charles Parish has two local krewes, Lul and Des Allemands. They’re both daytime parades on the weekend before Mardi Gras.
