NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A large crowd gathered Tuesday night in Lakeview for a public meeting organized by the group Fix My Streets. At least four city council members also attended.
The group is pushing for the repair of New Orleans’ much publicized, dilapidated streets.
Members of the group say, of the top 50 cities in the U.S., New Orleans lands somewhere in the middle as far at its tax rate goes, but the city has the worst roads.
At one point, one of the Fix My Streets members asked if neighbors would be willing to pay higher taxes if they knew, for certain, that the money would go to street repairs. Many of the people in the room raised their hands.
