Smoke-Free Week Kicks Off

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Monday, July 21, 2014 begins smoke-free week in New Orleans. Council member LaToya Cantrell, the Healthier Air for Campaign, and the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living are teaming up to promote the benefits of smoke-free environments.

The week is designed to raise awareness about secondhand smoke exposure, particularly for bar employees, patrons and musicians.

The week’s events include:

July 21: Kick-off party with the 610 Stompers at the Rusty Nail 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

July 22: Smoke-Free young professionals networking event at Barrel Proof 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

July 23: Town Hall Meeting at Carrollton Station 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

July 25: Finale Party at the Maple Leaf, doors open at 7 p.m.

    Sick of it. Just sick of it. Although this appears to be a voluntary week I'm sure it is sponsored by the same group trying to pass legislation throughout the country to prevent smoking everywhere, inside or outside. Just crazy for a free country.
