Taxi App Company Uber Delivering Ice Cream in New Orleans Today
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Uber’s app is now activate in New Orleans. But the move is only temporary, and don’t be disappointed when a car shows up with ice cream and refuses to take you anywhere.
The taxi app company launch a world-wide promotion Friday where they delivered cold treats to 144 cities, in 38 countries, on 6 continents.
Uber partnered with everyone from local ice cream and gelato vendors using their own trucks, to the mega wholesale warehouse chain Costco, for the day-long delivery of frozen sweets.
Prices, ice cream selection and hours of operation vary depending on location. In Atlanta, $25 will get you five sweet treats from a local vendor or pre-packaged ice cream pops. Free Uber swag-bags are also being given out, including beach balls and sunglasses.
Uber officials say their ice cream service will be in high demand for this special one day promotion so be patient. Click HERE to see all cities participating in the promotion.
City leaders continue to debate whether to allow Uber to operate its taxi service in New Orleans.
