NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – It looks like folks in Algiers will be paying more for their electricity.

The New Orleans City Council unanimously passed a rate increase that will raise rates around 30% over 4 years.

A number of Algiers residents argued that they already pay a higher fuel-adjustment charge than anyone else.

Entergy Louisiana said electricity hasn’t gone up in Algiers since 1986. Customers will see their rates go up about 10% each year.
