NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - A lot of soccer fans are watching the World Cup this week, and team jerseys are becoming the item everyone wants to wear to watch the games.
At Club Soccer in Metaire, the store owner, Pat Cafarella said they are selling out.
“The red, white, and blue away USA away jerseys are totally sold out. I couldn’t get another one in the store, if I tried. Nike has no more to sell,” she said.
At first everyone joked that those jerseys looked like a Domino’s Pizza uniform or Captain America, but now that’s the jersey everyone wants. The white home USA jerseys are still available, but they are selling pretty fast.
“There’s more interest in the United States this World Cup than we’ve had in past years. I think it’s because the USA is doing better than everyone expected, ” Cafarella said.
Other big sellers she said are Honduras, Mexico, and Brazil.
“There are a lot of new followers, people coming on board and picking up jerseys just to look authentic when they’re watching the games at the bar,” she said.
Club Soccer is located at 6601 Veterans Memorial Blvd.
