The Pot Farm Where Uncle Sam Goes to Get High

Twenty-two states now allow people to purchase marijuana for medical use, but actually growing pot is still against the law. Yet, the United States government spent almost a million dollars last year to grow some of the purest pot in the country.

That pot farm is located on the University of Mississippi campus and contains over 6,000 plants with some varieties containing up to 30% TCH content, three times above the street level.

Dr. Mahmoud Elsohly says it’s currently the only source in the US for researchers to obtain marijuana legally.¬†Unfortunately, researchers must jump through several hoops to get federal approval.
