ST. JAMES PARISH, (WGNO) – Downpours caused serious flooding in St. James Parish Wednesday, forcing some road closures.

Parish President Timmy Roussel declared a state of emergency around noon.  Residents wanting to protect their property could fill and pick up sandbags at the Grand Point Fire Station.

Some areas of St. James received more than a foot of rain.
