Census Data Shows New Orleans Population is Bouncing Back

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The newest census data shows New Orleans is continuing its post-hurricane Katrina comeback.

The latest numbers shows the city grew by 8,800 people in 2013.

Those figures raise New Orleans to 83 percent of the pre-Katrina population.

In Baton Rouge, the population grew by 1,000 people.

Louisiana as a whole showed a population increase of 3% over the past three years.
