Jesuit preps for Live Oak in state 5A semifinals

Jesuit Blue Jays JPGPitching, defense, and timely hitting have carried Jesuit to the state 5A semifinals.

The third seeded Blue Jays take on tenth seeded Live Oak Friday at 4 pm in Sulphur. Jesuit has swept through the playoffs with 5 consecutive wins, including back to back series sweeps over Rummel and Alexandria. Jesuit pitchers have allowed 7 runs in 5 playoff games.

Head coach Joey Latino said he likes the new 5A playoff format, one that calls for best two out of three series in both the second and third rounds. But, he would like one change. And, he said his defense had been a big part of his team’s success.
