NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Fast food giant Burger King is beefing up its breakfast menu with some unusual additions.

A spokeswoman says the chain is launching a new program at 5,000 of its restaurants.

It’s called “Burgers at Breakfast.”

The new menu features a variety of whopper sandwiches, cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches, as well as french fries and apple pie.

Burger King is also testing a chicken and waffle sandwich.

The new menu announcement comes as fast food restaurants duke it out to dominate the breakfast arena.

Restaurants have until the end of the month to begin implementing the new menu changes.
