Margaret Sanchez Arrested in Jaren Lockhart Murder Case
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Margaret Sanchez has been arrested in connection with the murder of Jaren Lockhart, Kenner police confirmed Wednesday.
U.S. Marshals took Sanchez, 30, in to custody Wednesday morning at her parent’s home in Metairie. She is expected to be charged with second-degree murder for the death and dismemberment of Bourbon Street dancer Jaren Lockhart.
Sanchez and her suspected accomplice Terry Speaks, 41, were the last two people to see Lockhart alive.
Lockhart was last seen June 5, 2012 leaving a Bourbon Street strip club where she worked.
Days later, parts of her body were found along the Mississippi coastline.
Authorities declined to comment on Speaks and his connection to the crime.
Speaks is currently being held in a New York federal prison on unrelated charges.
Kenner police will hold a news conference at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to release more details on the case.
