NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The 5th annual National Travel and Tourism Week kicked off in classic New Orleans style Tuesday, as dozens paraded through the streets in celebration of the tourism industry.

So what keeps drawing tourist to New Orleans? President and CEO of the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau says it’s because we’re the last real city.

“New Orleans culture bubbles up from the street, it does not come down from above. And that’s why people come here. We’re the last authentic place,” said Brad Weaber.

The tourism business employs more than 78-thousand in the New Orleans area.
