Get the Skinny on Cinco de Mayo Margaritas

 

Cinco de Mayo is next week, which means that many of us will be celebrating with margaritas this weekend! It’s no secret that margaritas are typically loaded with sugary calories, so luckily we’re Getting the Skinny with Molly on 3 flavor-packed margaritas that won’t blow your waistline!

Pomegranate Margaritas

Makes 2 drinks

 

2 ounces pomegranate juice (bottled is fine)

4 ounces Tequila Blanco

1 ounce Swerve simple syrup (recipe below)

12 ounces ice

2 wedges fresh lime

2 tablespoons fresh pomegranate seeds

Margarita salt

 

Combine pomegranate juice, tequila, Swerve simple syrup, and ice in a blender. Pulse until blended well. Rim glasses with lime wedge then dip glass in margarita salt. Fill glass with margarita and garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds.

 

Per serving: 145 calories & 4 grams sugar

 

 

 

Sinless Jalapeno Margarita                            
Makes 1 drink

 

6 ounces Sinless Margarita Mix (or Swerve-Sweetened margarita mix – recipe below)

2 ounces Tequila

1 Fresh Cut up Jalapeno

Pour over plenty of Ice

 

Per serving: 140 calories & 0 sugar

 

Sinless Tabasco Margarita

Makes 1 drink

 

6 ounces Sinless Margarita Mix (or Swerve-Sweetened margarita mix – recipe below)

2 ounces tequila

Splash Tabasco sauce

Pour over plenty of ice

 

Per serving: 140 calories & 0 sugar

 

 

 

Swerve Margarita – Serve plain or use as a mixer with other flavors & add-ins

Makes 1 drink

 

1 lime wedge

Salt

1.5 ounces tequila

1 ounce Trop 50 Orange Juice

1.5 ounces Swerve Simple Syrup (recipe below)

 

Using a wedge of fresh lime, rim the edge of margarita glass and dip into salt. Fill the glass with ice.

In a shaker filled with ice, add tequila, orange juice, and Swerve simple syrup. Shake well and pour over ice.

 

Per serving: 110 calories & 1 gram sugar

 

 

Swerve Simple Syrup:

½ cup Swerve Sweetener

½ cup water

 

Heat Swerve and water in a small sauce pan over medium heat, stirring until dissolved.
