Louisiana’s ‘Merry Christmas’ Bill Heads to the Senate

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Public schools in Louisiana could be one step closer to having Christmas trees.

The state house approved the so-called Merry Christmas bill which would allow public schools to put up Christmas trees, menorahs or any other symbol of the holiday season.

The bill would also allow teachers to wish students a “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Hanukkah” without the fear of a lawsuit.

The bill will now head to the state senate.
