Amendments to a proposed noise ordinance fall short of approval.

The mayor’s office worked more than a month deciding on four changes.

Determining a noise violations based on decibel levels gained support.

Turning enforcement over to the health department met little resistance and so did keeping violators out of jail.

But removing the curfew for street performers confused many and garnered the most debate.

Changes to the noise ordinance failed 3 to 3.

Council woman Stacy Head was not there and did not vote.

Upset proponents will have to wait for the new incoming council members and then try again.

Next time amending the noise ordinance comes up three new council members will be seated.
