Two New Orleans firefighters were hurt Tuesday morning while fighting a two alarm blaze in the Gentilly Terrace area.
According to the NOFD, the fire began a little after midnight in the 2400 block of Gladiolus Street. The department says flames from the burning vacant house were threatening other houses.
At one point, the “camelback” portion of the house collapsed on two firefighters. The department says it immediately began its rescue procedure and pulled the firefighters to safety. Both were treated and released at a hospital.
The department says the home was unoccupied but did have utility services connected. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
