NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Cycling around New Orleans can be a pretty pleasant experience, especially if you’re in the French Quarter or the Marigny.

But too often, cars get too close.

Maybe that’s why New Orleans has been ranked as one of the worst cities for cyclists!

According to a report on, New Orleans has the fifth highest fatality rate per capita.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission says that is not as bad as it sounds.

Our worst year was in 2010, when 3 cyclists were killed.
