Saints safety Byrd said playing for a winner, important to him

Buffalo Bills v New England PatriotsNew Saints safety Jarius Byrd, wearing number 31, made his first public appearance for the club Wednesday afternoon at Harahan elementary school.

Byrd spoke to third through fifth graders. He urged the students to making a read part of their daily life.

Byrd said as a child growing up, if he read for one hour, he got to play video games for one hour.

After his appearance, as part of Rotolo’s Literacy program, Byrd said he came to the Saints because he wanted to win. And, he likes the way coach Rob Ryan will use him in the Saints defense.
