The Humane Society of Louisiana is hoping a wreath laying event Thursday will keep the case of a mystery dog in the public’s eye.

The dog is at the center of a cruelty case.  A man from St Bernard Parish is accused of severely beating the dog while another man is accused of recording the attack on a cell phone.

Both men face charges in the case.  According to St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann, one of the men told deputies that he surrendered the dog to an animal shelter on the west bank.

But the facilities for Jefferson and Orleans parishes on the west bank both say they never received the dog.
