Epic Comeback Complete, Pels Topple Nets
It did not look good.
The Pelicans trailed by as much as 22 in the third quarter before launching the second largest comeback in team history. It ended with a 109-104 win over Brooklyn Monday night at Smoothie King Center.
Tyreke Evans scored 33 points, Anthony Davis 24 and he grabbed 14 rebounds.
New Orleans trailed 66-44 in third. The Pelicans went on a 29-10 run in the third quarter to get back in the game. The Nets sent the game into overtime with five straight points to end regulation. Paul Pierce’s three pointer with 24.1 to play tied the game at 98.
But, the Pelicans were off and running in overtime. Back to back three pointers by Brian Roberts and Anthony Murrow gave New Orleans a 106-100 lead.
The Pelicans tied a season high with a third consecutive win.
It was the final game for New Orleans this season against a team from the Eastern Conference. And, a memorable one it was.
