Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins has flown the coop.

Jenkins, a 2009 first round pick, agreed to a three year, $16.25 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles confirmed the deal Tuesday afternoon, just minutes after the free agent signing period kicked off.

Even though the Saints lost Jenkins, they may be upgrading the position. Bills free agent safety Jairus Byrd will visit New Orleans. A source confirmed Byrd’s visit to WGNO Sports. Byrd is a three time Pro Bowl selection with 22 interceptions and 11 forced fumbles in 5 seasons.

In five seasons, Jenkins has 6 career interceptions.
