The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office says that at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, a juvenile in OPSO’s Electronic Monitoring Program disabled his monitoring device and fled his residence. Orleans Parish Sheriff’s deputies were immediately notified and began the search for the youth.
Deputies also alerted the New Orleans Police Department which assisted in the search. Approximately 1:30 p.m., New Orleans police officers apprehended the juvenile upon his return to his residence. He has been taken to the Youth Study Center.
The juvenile, who was originally charged with armed robbery, has been charged with tampering with an electronic device and criminal damage to property over $500.
