UTEP was too big and too talented Thursday night for the Tulane Green Wave. The Miners shot 56 percent from the field on the way to a 72-54 over the Green Wave at Devlin Fieldhouse.

UTEP, coached by former UNO and Hornets coach Tim Floyd, won its 20th game and 10th Conference USA game in 12 outings.

“Our guys played extremely hard and we gave great effort, but we didn’t play as smart as efficient as we should have at times,” said Tulane head coach Ed Conroy.

A three point hoop by Jay Hook gave Tulane its final lead at 14-13.

Hook and Lou Dabney had 14 points each for the Green Wave, who fell to 14-13 overall and 6-6 in Conference USA.

UNO moved to 11-11 on the season, and 8-6 in the Southland Conference.
