Pels rally, then fall late to Knicks

New Orleans Pelicans jpbPre or post All Star Game, the Pelicans late game issues won’t go away. New Orleans erased a 13 point 4th quarter deficit, but scored only 2 points in the final 3:58 in a 98-91 loss to the Knicks at the Smoothie King Center Wednesday night.

Carmelo Anthony had two big baskets in the final 1:14. He scored 42 points for New York.  Eric Gordon scored 28 points for New Orleans. The Pelicans fell to 23-30 on the year.

New Orleans scored 11 straight points in the fourth quarter to cut a 13 point Knicks lead to 2. Brian Roberts hit a driving layup to give the Pelicans an 89-88 lead.

But, the Pelicans offense then fell silent.  Anthony Davis had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks for the Pelicans.
