A big announcement for foodies and anyone who shops at Lakeside Mall. The first Cheesecake Factory in Louisiana is opening up at the mall.WGNO Anchor Vanessa Bolano has the inside scoop.

Finally the first Cheesecake Factory in Louisiana is now under construction.

It’ll open up in what used to be a parking lot near Pottery Barn at Lakeside Mall.

“Our first phone call was made to Cheesecake Factory 20 years ago, and they are a restaurant that is very selective and methodical about their searches, and so this is definitely a business of patience and persistence and today is the day that we get to announce that all our hard work has paid off,” says Assistant General Manager at Lakeside Tricia Phillpott.

Cheesecake Factory has been around since the late 70’s. They have a huge menu with more than 250 options and more than 50 cheesecakes!

“That’s wonderful. I think a lot of people are going to like that,” says shopper Arthur Stevenson, “I love cheesecakes. A matter of fact I have a raspberry cheesecake at home right now that I’m about to go eat.”

Shopper Darnisha Lewis has been to a Cheesecake Factory in Texas. She says, “For some reason I ordered chicken nuggets because it was so much, but the cheesecake is really good, so that was the dessert I got.”

“They make amazing cheesecakes, because that’s where I had my first cheesecake,” says shopper Anne Marie Raque.

Shopper Lloys Brown says, “I’m not really a big dessert fan. I kind of count my calories, but I’m definitely going to give it a visit if it opens up in Lakeside Mall.”

The new Cheesecake Factory also means a re-designed entrance by the North Causeway side of the mall.

Assistant GM Tricia Phillpott says there’s a lot of exciting changes going on.

“The first Vera Bradley in the state of Louisiana, is now under construction in the Macy’s wing. We completed a multi-million dollar food court renovation, and we added Louisiana’s first Janie and Jack store, and we also opened the first Pandora in the market.”

The Cheesecake Factory is scheduled to open early this summer. They’ll have several dining rooms, a bakery a bar and valet parking; another first for Lakeside. The restaurant will employ 300 people. They’ll begin hiring in April. Cheesecake factory Comes To Lakeside mall
