Robert Robinson, 29, 2-24-84 and Andrew Causey, 24, 1-29-88 are in custody after pointing a firearm at New Orleans Police Officers. The offense occurred at approximately 4:45pm at the intersection of North Prieur and Spain Streets.
Fifth District Narcotics Task Force Officers were on patrol when they attempted to make a traffic stop on the driver of a blue Nissan Altima. When the driver stopped the vehicle, Robinson and Causey exited the vehicle and began fleeing on foot and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene with the vehicle. As Robinson and Causey were fleeing, Causey pointed a firearm at the officers at which time the officers fired. No one was injured or struck by the gunfire.
The officers requested backup, set up a perimeter and called S.O.D. A search of the perimeter by our Canine Unit located the suspects hiding under a house. Both suspects were apprehended by the Canine and received minor bites and will be treated for their injuries.
Officers located two firearms from the scene, one with an extended magazine. Officers are in the process determining the origin of the weapons.
NOPD FIT and the Independent Police Monitor will conduct separate investigations.
The investigation is on-going and Officers will book the suspects accordingly.
Robert Robinson is currently wanted for Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Aggravated Assault, 3 Municipal Attachments, Battery, Receiving Stolen Property and Resisting a Police Officer. He was previously arrested for Second Degree Murder, Battery on a Police Officer, Intimidation, Possession of Crack Cocaine, several Resisting a Police Officer and Flight from Officers charges, Several Possession of Stolen Property charges, Several Battery charges, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Several Domestic Violence Charges, Traffic, Warrants, Hit and Run, Trespassing, Disturbing the Peace and Open Container.
Andrew Causey was previously arrested for Felon with a Firearm, Heroin Distribution, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Stolen Property, Battery, Warrants and Disturbing the Peace.
