Friday, New Orleans emergency responders showed off all kinds of new gear and updates for existing equipment.
Perhaps the most ground breaking of the gear are wearable cameras for New Orleans police officers.
One of the cameras clips on glasses or sunglasses and can send video to a cellphone. If an officer wishes to peer around a corner, he or she could simply extend the camera to check out an area while viewing the images safely on their phones.
But the equipment that could have Superintendent Ronal Serpas most enthused is a camera recorder that officers wear on their chests. The department ordered 420 of them.
The chest cams can record audio and video and could help settle any debates over what an officer saw or what a suspect said.
