Gas Leak Leads To Evacuation

A natural gas leak Thursday afternoon led to the evacuation of about a one square block area in the 2500 block of Jefferson Avenue.

According to New Orleans firefighters, workers were using an excavator in the area which hit and damaged a four-inch gas line.

As many as 40 homes were affected by the evacuation.

By 4:30, the leak was fixed.  Nobody got hurt.
