Here’s a question that gets a lot of debate: should Spanish-speaking children be told to speak only English at school?
A Texas middle school is under fire because students say they were banned from speaking Spanish in class, even among themselves. The students say the principal announced the rule, but a letter from the superintendent says that it is not the school policy.
In any case, the Spanish-speaking students say it makes them the target of discrimination by other students.
