A party at Antoine’s in the French Quarter Monday night honored retiring New Orleans city councilwoman Jackie Clarkson.  Organizers expected about 200 people to attend the event which was also a fundraiser for the Season’s Grief and Loss Center.  Clarkson has a long record of service on the council and as a state representative in the legislature.

Also on Tuesday, councilwoman Kristin Palmer announced she will not seek re-election.  Palmer was elected to the council in 2010 and will complete her four-year term next year.  During her time in office, she worked to save the Algiers ferry and reform the city’s taxi cab system, among a long list of other accomplishments.
