The National Weather Service issued an overnight hard freeze warning on the North Shore.
By now people in Mandeville are well versed on what to do when a hard freeze warning goes into effect by protecting their plants, pipes and pets.
“Moved all my plants into my shed,” says Ed Green. “And I covered up the big blue agave.”
By definition a hard freeze means there’s at least two hours of air temperature cold enough to kill seasonal vegetation.
Either way folks in Mandeville were ready.
“I’m very prepared. I got to get up at 4:30 in the morning,” says Jason who works on a boat. “It’s going to be really cold. I’m going to the Mississippi River, the coldest spot.”
The North Shore hard freeze warning remains in effect until 9am Thursday.
