FEMA Forgives St Tammany Katrina Loan

St Tammany Parish is catching a break from FEMA.

Wednesday, the parish announced it would not have to repay a $12.2 million disaster loan.

According to Parish President Pat Brister, FEMA is forgiving the loan as well as $2 million in interest.

The money was used after Hurricane Katrina to help keep St Tammany’s government and other operations functioning.
